Kuntala is an ancient kingdom located in the present-day Andhra Pradesh state of India. It was one of the 16 Mahajanapadas (great kingdoms) in India during the 6th century BCE. The Kuntala kingdom was ruled by the Ikshvaku dynasty during its early history. Later, it was conquered by the Satavahanas, who made it a part of their empire. Kuntala is mentioned in several ancient Indian texts including the Puranas, the Ramayana, and the Mahabharata. The capital city of Kuntala was Potali Nagar, which is believed to have been located near present-day Karimnagar district. The kingdom was known for its abundant natural resources such as gold, copper, and timber. The people of Kuntala were fluent in the Telugu language and were skilled in crafts such as weaving, pottery, and metalwork. The Kuntala kingdom played an important role in the political and cultural history of South India.
